So, first up the HQ. The idea here is that the Shas’el with his Drones starts out attached to one of the 10 man Kroot squads, bringing their numbers to 13 so it needs 4 dead to force a leadership test. It also gives them leadership 9. The other squad is also 13 strong. These 2 squads start on the board as bubble wrap, protecting my suits. The trick will be detaching my Shas’el at precisely the right time so he can then support the Burningeyes.
In objective games the other 10 man Kroot Squad and the 2 Firewarrior squads in their Fish are in reserve. The Positional Relay allows me to bring on any one unit on a roll of 2+ in any turn. So turn 2 the 10 man Kroot squad come on, turn 3 one fish comes on and turn 4 the other one comes on, the idea is that they all try and grab objectives.
In annihilation games they can start on the board as mobile cover for my suits.
The 2 Deathrain squads deal with light armour, Monstrous Creatures, and Medium Infantry at rangeand Hordes up close. The Burningeye squad deals with heavy and medium infantry when they crash my lines.
The Broadsides deal with Armour at range, and light infantry (SMS) at medium to close range.
I think this is pretty balanced, with good scoring. Four TL Railguns at 1500pts is pretty good, and the Deathrains are sound. My only concern is that there is only one unit of Burningeyes i.e. there is no redundancy. However, at this points level there are simply not enough points for a second unit. The key will be protecting them until they’re needed.
Thoughts?
