Throne of
Skulls next weekend. Yippee! I always enjoy Throne of Skulls. I know lots of
people gripe about it, and there are lots of things that they could change to
make it better (the soft scoring for example!), but I just love the
venue….Warhammer World is great. And even better my brother is joining me.
He’s posted here a couple of times as Nuanced Confusion. He’s based in the US,
and I don’t see him nearly often enough. He’s coming over for one of his
regular trips home, and it just so happens that it coincides with TofS……(maybe
next year I’ll go over for the Nova Open!).
So last 3
Throne of Skulls I’ve taken Tau. I’ve done pretty average. I’ve gone 2-1-2 at
all of them! At the first 2 I won “Best Tau General”, and would have done so
again at the last one if not for the soft scoring (not that I’m bitter… much!).
But you know what…….I fancy a change.
I’ve been
playing my Tau almost exclusively for about a year now. While I love the little
blue fish guys, I need a change. So, inspired by Sir67’s Blood Angles come
back, I’m going to run my BA.
The List I’m
going to run is
Librarian
with Shield and Rage
10 Man
Assault Squad
Furioso with
Blood Talons
Furioso with
Blood Talons
8 - Death
Company with a Thunder Hammer.
Death Company
Dreadnaught with Blood Talons
Stormraven
with MM, and Assault Cannon x3
I know, I
know – a silly, silly, list. It will get murdered
by missile spam, or any army with a few laz cannons and some melta guns , oh and any time it goes second! But hey…. I think it will be
a blast to play.
And I think
that’s the point of TofS – its fun and not too serious – I think I’ve been
taking it all a bit seriously recently, time for a more light hearted approach!

Good luck, are you both going?
ReplyDeleteHi Hesh - yes a family road trip - me, my brother and my son! Little Geek is too young to play still, but he's there for the experience and to hang with his uncle who he doesn't see much.

This list is crazy but i like it! Only one/two scoring units is pretty ballsey. If you reserve the assault marines and DOA them onto objectives or hide them in storm ravens you should be ok.
ReplyDeleteReserving and doa the assault marines is the plan. They combat squad when they come in so they can get 2 objectives. I'm used to troop preservation from running my tau - 10 marines are probably more survivable than 20 kroot and 6 fire warriors. I think that reserving (with the rerolls from DofA to keep them off the table) is key, combined with the access to the whole board that deep striking gives you. Keeping them in the SR, not so good. Even more eggs in 1AV 12 basket!
ReplyDeleteI've actually played this list in a local 1500 tourni and won it! Having said that I'm not trying to kid myself that this is a strong list. I'm just hoping to have fun.
