Games Workshop Heat 2

After a very long drive (in snow and ice!!) I’m back from Heat 2 of the GW GT. I went 3-1-1, and came 9th out of 86, with 4 “best army” votes and 4 “favourite game” votes. really pleased about that.

Usual format, brief battle reports, and then a wrap up at the end ..... and a shock announcement!!

Throne of Skulls RIP

Warhammer World have announced that they will be allowing Escalation and Stronghold in their events.

I can not express how sad this makes me. As readers of this blogg know, I have been a huge fan of TOS in the past. When they introduced the "best blow job" points, I stuck with it. When the introduced the crazy scoring system where the winner need not have won all 5 games, I stuck with it. When they ditched swiss paring, I stuck with it. But this is a step too far.

Throne of Skulls Battle Reports

Last weekend at Throne of Skulls I had a blast. Attending with my brother and my son was fun and I had 5 great games with fun opponents – and I won best Blood Angels player, which always helps! I’m not going to do blow by blow battle reports, but here’s a quick summary of how things went.

First of all my list was as posted last week – a Librarian with Shield and Rage, 3 Stormravens with extra armour, 2 Furioso Dreads, 8 Death Company with a Thunder Hammer, a Death Company Dread and one unit of assault marines with no upgrades. I posted last week that this was a silly list, and it is. Frankly I was really lucky with my match ups as you’ll see.

Game 1

Against a really cool guard army. Lots (and lots) of guardsman with lots (and lots) of stuff (lots of heavy weapons  teams!), all foot slogging and 3 Hydra’s. All the guardsmen were Ratling miniatures and had a very strong WW I theme. The centre piece of the army was a sentinel converted into a bi-plane, who my opponent called “Bigglesworth”! In fact all the minis had names (Baldrick and Captain Darling made an appearance). Anihiliation pitched battle. He had first turn.

Sir#67 at Throne of Skulls Part 2

Hello, Sir#67 here,

Sorry for the delay, life decided I had more important things to do than type up my remaining battle reports. He teamed up with work there was no way I could stop them both!!

The following will not be as detailed as my previous reports because frankly I can’t remember exactly what happened in each game anymore.

Sir#67 at Throne of Skulls Part 1

I’ve been back from Throne of Skulls a few days now so I figured it was time I submitted my own battle reports.

This is the list I took:

Baron Sathonyx

Haemonculus

3 Kabalite Trueborn: 3 Blasters
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons

3 Kabalite Trueborn: 3 Blasters
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons

14 Hellions

3 Wracks
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons

5 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons

5 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies

5 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster
Venom: 2 Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies

Ravenger: 3 Dark Lances, Flicker Field

Ravenger: 3 Dark Lances, Flicker Field

Ravenger: 3 Dark Lances, Flicker Field

It’s a pretty standard Venom Spam with some Hellions for a bit of combat potential. The grisly trophies are a personal affection. I’ll go more in depth on the 2000pts version of this list in a later article as a lot of my other lists share common elements with it.

Throne of Skulls.

Myself and my good friend Billy have just arrived at our travelodge in Nottingham after having a good look around Warhammer world and registering for tomorrow.

Both our lists are in. Billy's taking his double dread Grey Knights. This is two Dreadknights with personal teleporters and incinerators, generally scouting, backed up by your usual Grey Knight goodies.

I'm letting my Dark Eldar out to play. Giving the Baron his 1st competitive run. Not had to many practice games with him though so we'll see how this pans out.

Meeting up with Geek tomorrow. Frantically painting my army in our hotel room tonight. If anyone else is in the travelodge by the airport feel free to drop me a comment or email and join the madness.

I'll put the list I'm using in with each battle report.

Stay classy
